End of the Year

Chad and I had a very nice Christmas!  Saturday we spent not doing much, just relaxing and resting up for the next couple days!  I also made some cookies and treats.

Sunday we went to church in the morning. I made rolls for Christmas Eve dinner and cake for dessert on Monday (and for my brother’s birthday which was on the 23rd — HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIKE!)

Sunday late afternoon, we headed over to Chad’s parents.  We had a very nice evening. The traditional Christmas Eve dinner consists of Swedish Meatballs, “Company Potatoes” (aka hashbrowns), and Strawberry Jello Salad.  My sister-in-law also brought a yummy salad, and I brought rolls.  The oyster stew was foregone this year, but will make it’s comeback next year when there are less pregnant women!

We opened presents after dinner and sugar cookies. Of course Jana was the star of that show. She loved it and helped everyone open their gifts!

Christmas Day, we headed to Rochester to spend the day with my family.  My brother and his family were a little delayed by the youngsters, but Chad and I got some nice time with my parents.  After everyone had arrived we had dinner which is traditionally pork roast, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, lefse, bread, and cranberry salad.  Again. Yum!  This year I didn’t make my Christmas Trifle dessert, but made a Snickerdoodle cake in honor of my brother’s birthday.  I will have to remember to post that recipe as it is always a hit!

Tuesday I headed back to work. Chad took the whole week off, but being that I’m new at this job, I don’t exactly have much PTO accumulated!  So I was at work with about 5 other people.  Today I think there were maybe 10.  OK – so I’m exaggerating, but it’s very slow without anyone in the office to return emails or have meetings with (especially as that is what most of my job consists of right now).

So a couple more days before a long weekend. I’m not exactly sure how long my weekend will be. Apparently the stock market closes when there is a presidential funeral, which means the company may close for the day too.  Not sure how that works, but it does.  So we’ll see!

Hope you all had a happy Christmas!
