Tonight I made tacos for dinner, and made my own seasoning. It’s definitely cheaper than the packets, especially since I had all the necessary spices. And nice to be able to adjust the seasonings to your taste. I started with this recipe, and then adjusted it (as follows) for 2.5 lbs of ground beef and according to some of the reviews. Plus it’d be really easy to mix it up in advance and keep it on hand. I will definitely use this from now on.
Taco Seasoning
2 tsps chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp paprika
3 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp sea salt
1 1/2 tsp black pepper
In a small bowl, mix together chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper. Store in an airtight container.
Add with water to ground beef and simmer to make tacos.
Double, triple or quadruple and store for when you’re ready to use.
