Italian Beef Sandwiches

Chad had “the guys” over for his birthday last night. NBA and Guitar Hero III (his birthday present from Maria and I).  I put out a spread, including these easy Italian Beef sandwiches!  Loving my crockpot!  Once again, I made some modifications to the original recipe.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

3 cups beef broth
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp garlic powder
2 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
1 (5 pound) rump roast

  1. Combine broth with salt, ground black pepper, oregano, basil, onion salt, parsley, garlic powder, bay leaf, and salad dressing mix in a saucepan. Stir well, and bring to a boil. *
  2. Place roast in slow cooker, and pour salad dressing mixture over the meat.
  3. Cover, and cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours, or on High for 4 to 5 hours. When done, shred meat with a fork.

* I don’t think I will boil the seasonings and broth next time… I’m not sure what the point was…

  1. Sounds yummy! Did you cook it on low or high? I love reading your recipes…I made the cinnamon apple cookies for Thanksgiving and they were a hit! Can you come and cook for me please?! Maria is so dang cute!!

  2. ooh that sounds really good! I have a similar recipe with a roast and BBQ sauce- so easy and sooo yummy. (I agree though- not sure why you’d boil those ingredients together beforehand. Seems like an extra step to me.)
