“Mommy, I have a wet diaper”
“How did your diaper get wet?”
“From the rain!”
“No, I don’t think so. Did you go tinkle in your diaper?”
“I need to go tinkle! And poopy!”
And 15 minutes later (after squeezing out a pea-sized #2) , she’s back in bed.
10 minutes later…
“Mommy, I need my diaper changed”
“No, I don’t think you do”
(crying) “I want a new diaper!”
I try to bribe her with the money we don’t want to spend on more diapers… it doesn’t work.
Finally just rock her for a few minutes, put her down with a nuk and a toy flower (besides all the other stuff she already has in her crib!)
“Mommy, thanks for rocking me”
Awwww…. this kid knows how to work her Mom!!!
Other tactics that work include:
- “Mommy, I need lotion on my face.”
- “Mommy, I can’t find my lovey.”
- “Mommy, I need a hug.”
Tactic that has never worked (only tried once, this kid learns fast!):
- “Mommy, I need a jelly bean!”
