The Vow: The Kim & Krickitt Carpenter Story by Kim Carpenter
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This is a pretty amazing story. About a woman who shortly after getting married is in a terrible accident and loses all memory of her husband. But together they stand by their vows and rebuild their life together.
Now that being said, as much as the story is incredible, I did not like how it was written. I also am not a Nicolas Sparks fan, or just into cheesy fated love stories all that much either. And though the author speaks much about the difficulty they both had, the way the story was told didn’t cut to the emotions or the grittiness of the situation.
I can’t explain it. It was just a bit fluffy for me the way the story was told.
I am also not Nicolas Sparks fan. Others have told me this one is a “have to read it anyway…” I REALLY appreciate your book reviews. I think we have similar tastes.
But if you are still on the fence, it is very short. I read it in a matter of a few bus rides, although I did skim once I decided I didn’t love it… The funny thing for me was that the fiction book I read immediately after this (Angel Falls) was the same situation except it was fiction and I “felt” the characters more.
